Marcus,

Can you explain to us how you use the polar bookshelf for adding cards to Anki? Thanks!

Sure! Polar bookshelf is pretty easy to use with Anki, but nowhere near as attractive as it was when you could be entirely offline. To start you need to make sure you have the right version of Anki and the right version of Polar. I read some people stating that it should be working fine with the latest version of both, but if not you should be okay using the version of Anki that teacher recommends, as updates often break plugins. Once you have the two applications installed you need to add the polar bookshelf plugin to Anki and open Polar. To make a notecard from a text source you first open the source in polar. The next step is to highlight or select an area of text to serve as an annotation. Following that you go to the right hand pane and highlight the annotation you want to use then click the note card button. This brings up the notecard annotation view which will let you select either two-sided card or cloze. After filling out the appropriate fields you save your changes and now have a notecard. Once you have made as many notecards as you desire you close out of the book and use the "sync to anki" button at the top of the screen to send your notecards over to anki.
