I got more than 100 cards again today along with a good number of added cards and a little more than 2 hours total in the i+1 room. It even looks like I will get to bed a little earlier tonight, so that's a good thing!Marcus' i+1 Journal
True! I am glad we have taken steps to avoid making that mistake a third time! I managed to get my 100+ cards today again, as well as 1.5 hours in the i+1 room. Really hoping my pup is back to normal soon, as it is surprisingly difficult to concentrate on tasks when other worries are present.
He does seem to be getting better bit by bit, even though he occasionally has some setbacks, so that is good. I managed to get in my greater than 100 cards in only 30 minutes today, so the easier cards definitely helped! As for the spreadsheets, I am not entirely sure, they look pretty good right now, but we may need to try them out before we can know for sure.
True good point! Do you think we should copy them all as is for each Explorer? Would you make any final changes before the meeting?Marcus wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:02 am He does seem to be getting better bit by bit, even though he occasionally has some setbacks, so that is good. Should we have someone to do a motion stipulating: Clan Salaries, cost of each class, and earnings to teach each class? I definitely would love your ideas of how much Gold the income to teacher/cost to each student should be? Should Clan meetings be included and if so how?
Should next weeks focus be on then figuring out a Clan bank account?
I hope you are read up on economics because we may be days away from opening an entire pandora's box that could effect the entire future of ACA Explorers, and the discussions you and I have are going to shape it quite a lot. I definitely feel like now is the time for me to make sure my socialist policies overtake any Colorado libertarianism gets wrangled in. Mwajaj
Since of course a lot of Gold can be generated just from the mining of Study Points but Gold is also generated from thin air as a motivation tool. Offering X Gold to read Harry Potter to an Explorer that is deeply in the negatives seems like it should be something that is in the toolkit of any Explorer serving the role as Teacher. But how do you systematically account for that ability within a virtual economy?.
Could we chalk it up to just 'admin'/adviser/teacher level powers, akin to the Fed changing interest rate, putting more/less currency into circulation? I feel like it doesn't really have to be a closed loop, since the federal reserve can quite easily create money out of thin air anyway (and despite the naysayers, could you imagine the only alternative? aka congress being able to print money all based on who is in power at the time and with those idiots in charge like yikes)
100 Cards in 30 minutes though still seems like a LOT of time... But definitely an i+1 improvement in that direction!
Quick Breakdown, Dipole Moment Card
{{c1::The dipole moment, μ, for a chemical bond, is}} {{c2::the product of the partial charge on each atom and the distance between the two atoms.}}
This is the journey I took to learn more about the dipole moment and see all the interesting Notes (and resultant Cards) I could make:
*ACA Method
*Goal of making a lot of cool notes/cards
*Knowing that if I could put it in Spanish (or any other language for that matter, likely the more the merrier), and 'code' for it in another language, that the neural connections would likely be exponentially greater with unpredictable synergistic benefits
... (Made a lot of cards, 130 of them, need to organize the screenshots and make it into a high quality post!...)
...(However, I did export the cards and uploaded them to our shared drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aNsL9T ... sp=sharing)
Oh man, that is quite a bit to respond to! I managed to get in just over an hour of study in the i+1 room, but as you saw, I had to cut my efforts short since my pup decided to eat some tassels off a carpet.
I think we definitely want to have a standard format for each spreadsheet. Additionally, we may want to make it so explorers could copy the row from points and rates into the spreadsheet and have a good chunk of info auto-filled in, but I am not sure how much work that would be.
Clan Salaries should definitely be discussed at some point, and positions that require greater amounts of effort should provide slightly more income, however I feel like there should not be any position that requires a significantly larger amount of work to do than any other position. The gold income/student cost could probably be handled in a few different ways. Off the top of my head we could have it so that there is a fixed cost per student, which would ensure that more students results in more income for the teacher. Another way we could handle it would be to have the amount of income a teacher gets be a function of the number of students such that a greater number of students slightly increases the amount the teacher receives, but the overall cost per student decreases, resulting in lower costs for everyone when everyone participates. Clan meetings could be included, but I am not sure how we would designate teacher and student in that setting, so I say we hold off on that for now.
Next week we could definitely focus on the Clan bank account, as well as a rough outline of how the transfers should all work. I still am able to remember a good amount of info from the courses I took on micro- and macro-economics, but I probably could look into them again at some point. One of the problems with a lot of western economic theory (that I have seen) is the fact that they are all very heavily influenced by the currently existing systems and lines of thought, some of which have some rather tenuous tenets. Libertarianism is kind of neat on paper, but usually just ends up being implemented very poorly, however the same can also be said about communism and capitalism. It is really rather sad how grossly misunderstand socialism is in the United States.
The ability to generate gold out of thin air is not ideal, for it removes any notion of scarcity from a system, which undermines any kind of notion of value that a virtual currency may have. One way to account for something like that would be to have definite means by which gold may come into existence, be it through work or at regular intervals. The gold could come from the clan coffers, kind of like a subsidy that clan members could vote on. If gold can be just created what is to stop a clan from just deciding to just mint a large amount of gold and distribute it periodically so that no one ever goes negative? I find it a little ridiculous that the federal reserve can just create money out of thin air, but I also find it a little difficult to believe that the people in charge of the federal reserve are completely impartial and always ensure that money gets to the people who need it the most. On the other hand, I also think it is kind of dumb to have a monetary system based around the concept of debt and would be hard-pressed to come up with some good reasons as to why it makes any sense for nations to have tens of trillions of dollars of debt.
Thanks for taking a look! I will check it out!

I managed to get 2 hours and 40 minutes in the i+1 room today, pretty good! These amino acid cards have got me thinking I may want to finally go over O-Chem as a second language and really get a good hang of o-chem, but I imagine it could be...time consuming.
That would be a great book to Anki-fy....!
Today we had a pretty productive session in the i+1 room starting with 30 minutes before the power hour! I ended up being in there all the way up until 11:15 my time, so about...4.5 hours. Even got my anki cards studied and a few added, so overall pretty good!
