Bottom post of the previous page:

Here goes another attempt to post, with any luck this will go through and we will not have any further forum problems! I have been doing a bit of catch up today, trying to ensure I don't miss out on anything, but it is tricky to balance increased productivity with avoiding burnout. I do think that having habits and an ABC plan are definitely a good way to do it though, but changing ingrained habits is rather tricky.

Very true. I often fall victim of putting aside all we have learning from i+1 and just trying to DO IT ALL AT ONCE. Like the old days. Turns out that didn't work then and doesn't work now. Oops! But hey Rome WAS built in a day, right, so why can't I become the Buddha overnight???

I guess it took a little while to build Rome, probably at least a week. Who is to say that Buddha, on the other hand, did not spontaneously become the buddha upon waking!? Today I did plenty of reading, only problem is most of it was not actually productive!

I have not had a terrible time of being productive today, but it really seems like mental roadblocks are much trickier to deal with than one would be lead to initially believe. Oftentimes I find that the things I put off aren't even that troublesome and sometimes can even be enjoyable, but I put them off simply out of habit. I wonder if mental roadblocks could also be a type of habit?

Today has been a somewhat productive day thus far, I think I will get a second Anki session in here soon since I already managed to get one done!

Well the good news is that it seems like my chain habit action this week is still working pretty well, maybe I will even toss on the forum posts to the end of the chain just to see if I can really establish a pattern!

Love that!

I call that rehearsing a Habit Action, like a dress rehearsal! You sort of feel it out before officially announcing it - and using the power of the clan to really motive you - in order to see if its a good fit or you need to change any of the elements (Reminder, Regimen, Reward, maybe the Environment, maybe the very first or smallest step (i+1 Moment), etc.

Heck sometimes I have even realized I wasn't ready for it yet but needed a Helper or Conditional related to it first!

That is a pretty good way to describe it, is really nice to be able to test something out before trying to commit to adding it to ones habit actions. Today I ended up doing study a little later in the day, but I also ended up doing some watch repair and electronics calculations.

Today I figured I would try and get my anki and posting done earlier, it seems to have worked out okay thus far! Now if only I could find a way to get people not in the ACA to understand that you can still try and be productive on your days off.

Haha don’t remind me! There’s a party going on upstairs in the hotel and I’m on the audio board doing private submissions comparing my Spanish audio using the same sentence I recorded in January.

Plus these motions are freaking motivating. It’s like even my most procrastination tending self begrudgingly obeys.

Could this be like the Rosetta Stone unlocking the keys to our own unconscious programming?

It would be really nice if it was similar to the Rosetta Stone, for it is far less abstract than things like EEG or FMRI neuroanatomy studies. I have been having pretty good luck getting my stuff done this week, the slight amount of leeway paired with the past two weeks of attempts seems to have helped a lot. Gotta watch out for those parties though, I hear they can be quite the time sink.
