Not if we stay small and stick together. Rural Colombia.

This is a good point, it will be much harder for someone to justify attempts to destroy a small grassroots movement aimed at helping everyone than larger organizations that they perceive as an immediate threat. I was thinking about this and there are many different things that can be made with a 3D printer, including, but not limited to, most of the parts to assemble another 3D printer. One thing I would like to experiment with is the use of hollow wood 3D prints as a means to produce specialized metal parts. If we could do that then it would, in theory, be possible for ACA to start also producing advanced hardware that is usually hard to get without paying exorbitant prices.

But would that be difficult to store the printing plastic necessary to use that?

It could be a little difficult, depending on the amount of material needed, but the filament is actually pretty cheap and if you make the right parts then you can fabricate using other kinds of materials. It would also probably be necessary to make use of some stuff like aluminium posts for some of the heavier duty stuff, and you the motors would have to be acquired, but there are still substantial savings to be had, especially if one uses openly available designs.

Posting today I am rather confused as I am not seeing some of the posts I thought I had made over the past 5 days. I guess I may have just not hit reply, but I could have sworn I did...

I like the 3D printing idea. I sort of envision us with our own little bungalows that we set up according to our Masterys. When I visualize it, I see you in your epic chem lab.

And of course, we would still need money to survive, fortunately the internet where we could be i+1 Life Coaches, language teachers, tutors, artists, trainers, you name it, makes it a lot easier and more likely to work!

Well 3D printing is super useful for producing specialized parts that would otherwise be very hard to get. Ideally we could set up some sort of manufacturing building where we would be able to make any kinds of tooling or machinery needed to accomplish a given task. For example, there are designs online for building your own computerized lathe as well as cnc router tables. If we were to be able to build those we could manufacture complex parts out of aluminum and then use those aluminum parts to make tools capable of milling much harder materials. I think it would be awesome to be able to produce anything from kitchen fixtures to jet engine components, something which could also serve to help not only the ACA but also local communities that would not normally have access to those kinds of technologies.

Today has been fairly eventful thus far, already went to the Dr.'s office and managed to get a bit of work in before the meeting, but I would like to get more done before it gets too late and maybe get to bed earlier. I tried taking some 5-HTP last night to help get to bed, but ended up awake for what seemed like hours despite yawning and having my eyes closed, my brain just would not stop, lol.

Yeah WOW! This could not only help out our community, but also if we are located in Colombia, likely we could help out communities that NEED it close to us! Plus we could take a 'Caveman Chemistry' approach and teach a lot of science/engineering concepts from first principles! Atomic i+1 style baby!

Interesting, I should maybe try that. I think its either the THC or the CBD that helps me stay asleep, but it certainly activates me and makes it harder to initially get to sleep. I'm still searching for a better solution. Because while preferable to waking up and not being able to go back to sleep (such as what happens when I have zero THC/CBD), but still relying on combustion to get a full night's sleep is a little too dependent for me.

However, I feel like you may be a bit more 'advanced' than I am, since 5-HTP is a much healthier solution. To help quiet my brain, I try to read FICTION at night. Last night I was working on Project Euler problems and that was not a good idea lol.

Exactly! I think it would be super cool to be able to enable people to make a lot of things locally that they would normally be unable to acquire, although there would be limitations with what could be manufactured directly the only real limitations we would run into would be ones that people have already solved via engineering.
