Bottom post of the previous page:

I really really liked Polar Bookshelf a lot. I managed to make tons of cards very quickly, but my biggest problem is the way they started updating it and pushing it to be online only. It really sucks that they decided this tool needed to be solely subscription based and require everything reside in the cloud. If you get the right version you can still get it to sync to anki, but somehow they managed to break it along the way, which is one reason I stopped using it. I am not sure there is much of a difference between making the card in anki vs making it in polar. The polar interface is basically what you get with anki, it just cuts down on the amount of copy-pasting you are doing and is limited to only cloze-deletion and 2-sided card types. I would say today is another day bordering on i+1, however I never expected I would be vacuuming up cherries, but I guess puppies like to try and eat them regardless of things like ripeness and tartness.

Today has not been terrible in terms of productivity, but it certainly could have been better. I did manage to edit a bunch of photos of puppies, but I did not manage to get enough notifications posted.

Don't forget audio responses and requests! Arley is counting on it!

I can make some requests, but I have no idea what kinds of requests I need to make. Like, am I supposed to be requesting things in Spanish and recording them in English? If so, are there any specific kinds of phrases that would be better to request than others? Will we be using these requests to make new cards and further expand the learned vocabulary? When I was making requests before I was choosing stuff out of the molecular biology texts that I was reading, however I am not sure how much benefit I will see from them when I still have a tenuous grasp of Spanish.

I have made us some mini-groups in Whatsapp that will hopefully help us :)

Your last point is a good one. Perhaps we could come up with phrases translating from Simple Wikipedia.
Another option is to take the existing Spanish Words Complete deck we have with 729 word-sentence pairs and just add other examples of sentences of the same word.

Those words are the most important words to learn and to constantly be re-visiting. Kind of like piano scales. Even experts still practice scales! So it could be a good idea to drill those words in DIFFERENT contexts as well. Plus it would be easy to add as you already have details like IPA, personal connection (if you added it), etc.

Anki highlights words when the first field is duplicated but it isn't an actual problem. I have many many words that are in Anki several times because one word can be used in many different ways across many different contexts!

Much obliged! I am glad to hear that you were able to get some groups made! That should be pretty neat! I could have sworn I posted yesterday, but I don't see it so maybe I forgot to hit submit. Today has been okay, more truck work like yesterday but at least it was easier to accomplish!

Also, I was editing photos for social media! They initially had the white balance off by quite a bit, but I was able to touch them up after the fact thanks to them being saved in a raw image format!

How was your biology study today?

Biology study is still going pretty well, sometimes I try and supplement it with recent research articles on what I am reading about. Right now I am still reading about the different ways in which gene regulators are regulated and how that regulation can change with respect to time! https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03689-8 is a pretty neat looking article that answers some questions that I had which I have not seen addressed in the text! Not that I can read the whole thing since I don't have a subscription to the journal Nature.

CpG island (CGI) promoters... give me the car salesman speech on why I should care about these?

Also, you know about sci-hub right? To be able to see that article.
